after suffering a stroke and is now doing well. We took advantage of
Eva's visit to her hometown and took a tour of "Old Port
Arthur" which also included Frank Andrews Club "Andrews on
Procter. We made the "Drag" down old Procter Street,
visited the downtown area and also went across the bridge to "Pleasure
Pier" since renamed to "Pleasure Island".

| On December 29, 2001 a
group of some of our classmates decided to take a trip to Baton Rouge,
Louisiana to visit some of our classmates and friends living in that
nice city. While there we visited the State Capital and saw the
exact place where Huey P. Long was shot and killed in the capital
building (the bullet holes are still in the wall). We took a tour
of the beautiful LSU Campus and dined in some very nice
restaurants. (We also did a little bit of gambling at one of the
casino's!) While there we visited with Sue Terrell-Dartez (who
recently moved there from the Dallas area to be closer to her
daughter). Also with "The Tall Texan" Bill Holtman and
with Wayne Woodworth. |

| Jimmy
and Marjorie Maxfield
... On
Tuesday, August 7, I visited
with Jimmy Maxfield and his
lovely wife Marjorie in
Houston. They own and
operate the "Tangle wood
Pharmacy and Stationary"
store located at 5750 Woodway,
Suite 156, Houston, TX
77057. We talked about
past times of growing up in Port
Arthur. Jimmy says he
regrets not being able to attend
the past reunion but will definitely
attend the next one, plus some
of the upcoming
"Socials". They
have a beautiful store which
consists of not only
pharmaceuticals and beautiful
stationary, but many elegant
gifts. One of the many
items that I was attracted to
was the large quantity of
"Nutcrackers" (notice
just a few behind them in the
above photo). Their store
has the largest inventory of
"Nutcrackers" in
Texas. We will be
developing a web site for Jimmy
and Marjorie soon highlighting
their store and the
"Nutcrackers".
If you are interested in finding
out more on their
"Nutcrackers" with the
upcoming Christmas season in
mind, you may email them at: jmaxfield@tanglewoodpharmacy.com
or call (713) 266-1234 or call
toll free 1(877) 909-1500. |

Cheri
D'Abadie
(Johnson) lives in Duncan,
Oklahoma and was in Port Arthur
during the week-end of July 27th
thru the 29th to be with her
sister, Elizabeth, who was
attending her TJ Class of 1966's
35th reunion. We had
previously been invited to
attend their reunion so this
gave us an opportunity to visit
with Cherie. It was so
nice to be able to visit with
her. She was so excited
about seeing her old hometown of
Port Arthur that she has vowed
not to miss our 45th Reunion to
be held in the year 2006
(we will hold you to that
promise, Cherie!). Cherie
is married to Jerry Johnson of
the TJ Class of 1959. Some
may remember Jerry (20) as a
halfback for the Yellow
Jackets. We certainly hope
for all to see Cherie and Jerry
at the next reunion.

We
received the following from
Charles Kirkendall and decided to
post it on this page for all:
"This is my wife and myself
at an Italian restaurant
celebrating my birthday. I
am an architectural representative
for a large stone and ceramic
supplier with offices
worldwide. I have projects
in over 40 states and a dozen
countries, so I travel to some
exotic places (and some not so
exotic). My wife of two
years is a Massage Therapist and
owns a pet sitting business.
She also is a college freshman, a
theater performer and a
singer, Her mother and
father were born the same year as
me (1943). Christine still
watches MTV on our TV and is a
major animal lover. She
keeps me young and gives me a
different perspective when looking
at life's happenings. She is
a major astrology buff and asks me
to help her with her college
homework. I have a three
year old grandson from a previous
marriage. I have lives in
Dallas since 1985, with time off
to live in Nashville for two years
and Sandpoint, Idaho for 2 1/2
years. My mother still lives
in Pear Ridge and my surviving
sister lives in Houston.
Hope to see everyone in June, but
I have two trips to Italy, two to
California, and one to Phoenix
already planned for this
summer. I also have three
weeks of vacation to take prior to
October or lose them. My
email address is cbk1233@msn.com
| On a lark, and a spur of the moment decision, I decided to
take the day off and go to Alexandria, Louisiana, approximately
150 miles from Port Arthur, just for the fun of it.
Alexanderia is a pretty town with beautiful southern style homes.
While there I visited with Sharin Comeaux (McMonagle) who works with the
Rapids Parish Library. Here is a photo of Sharin busy at her
desk. Sharin made time for me while I was there and we had lunch
together. She also gave me a short tour of this beautiful
city.

Linda Rogers-Campbell (Right) visited Port
Arthur on January 10 & 11, 2000. Linda now lives in Arlington, Washington in the far
North West. She had flown in to Pasadena, TX to visit with her family and
took a side trip to visit her old hometown of Port Arthur. While here she visited with her
old school chum Sharon Austin-Blackburn (left). Sharon and Linda went down memory lane and
visited all of the old sites and places of Port Arthur. The one thing that Linda was
really interested in was watching the Tug Boats pushing their barges up and down the
intercoastal canal. Linda's father worked on those tug boats when she was growing up.
Linda had brought her mother with her and her mother, Linda, Sharon and
myself (Paul Fitzner) went out that evening to dinner. The next morning Linda, Sandy Marsh
and myself met at the IHOP restaurant for breakfast. It was so nice to have seen Linda
again. Linda was a member of the Art Club (President), Cabinet 58-59, Home Room Treasurer
59-60 and a member of the Red Hussars Drum and Bugle Corps. Linda says she hopes to be
able to see everyone at the next Class Reunion in 2001.
