Joy Lynn Johnstone Landry, 65 of Hillister died Monday, October 27, 2008, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Joy was born in Port Arthur on March 12, 1943 to John and Dorothy Johnstone. She was a 1961 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and married T.P. Landry, Sr. on November 24, 1961 and was married for forty-seven years. They had two children, Thermen P. Landry, Jr. and Bronold T. Landry. Joy retired from Norvell-Wilder, at their closing, after ten years of service. She also retired from Exxon-Mobil as an accounting clerk after seventeen years of service. Joy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to one and all.
She is survived by her husband, T. Pete Landry, Sr.; sons, Thermen Philip Landry, Jr. and wife Penny and their children, Jason, Kacy, Shelby Paige, Colton, and Shelby Lea of Wildwood; and Bronold Thomas Landry and wife Cindy and their children, Cody and Courtney of Spurger; mother Dorothy; sisters, Sue and Nita; and numerous nieces and nephews all of Nederland, Port Neches, and surrounding areas.
Joy is preceded in death by her father, John Johnstone.
Pallbearers will be Malcomb Gunter, Chuck Britten, Wayne Lott, Jason Landry, Bronold “Tommy” Landry, and Thermen Landry, Jr. “Buddy”.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Joy’s memory to the Julie and Ben Rogers Cancer Institute, 3555 Stagg, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 30, 2008, officiated by Joy’s nephew, Pastor Johnny Dammon, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee with burial to follow at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, October 29, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the mortuary.
